Karen Carlisle, Regional Coordinator

Aloha, Hawaii ringers!

I have been your AGEHR Area XII Regional Coordinator since 2005. I started ringing in 1975 in a youth handbell choir in Campbell, California, and I later became the director of that group. I directed a Junior High/High School choir in San Jose for seven years, and fell in love with Hawaii when I brought that group to a handbell convention on the Big Island in 1992. I moved to Oahu three years later and began directing at Kailua United Methodist Church in 1999, and also at Aiea UMC in 2000.

I met my husband, Dan, through handbells, and we married in 2006. We now co-direct a community choir and thoroughly enjoy the dedication of the members. I also solo ring, play duets with my husband, and take any chance I can get to ring handbells.

I look forward to continuing to help create opportunities for handbell groups in Hawaii to grow and improve in our art.
