The Area XII Ringers Conference 2007

June 23-24, 2007

A RINGER’S FEAST

An event for individual ringers

on the campus of Pomona College, Claremont, California

Featuring

Monica McGowen

Director of Twin Cities Bronze

l  Individual registration, but full choirs welcome!  Unlike the biennial Area XII Ringers’ Conferences which are more suited to full or partial choirs, this event is devoted to ringing for the individual ringer.  Full choirs are certainly welcome to register, but all registrants must complete their own registration forms and pay their fees individually.  Each registration will be treated independently.

l  Level 3-5 music - assignments given out by May 15, 2007.  Assignments will be made according to order of registration and, wherever possible, according to each registrant’s requests.

l  Plenty of RINGING for two days.  Unlike most other multi-day events in which separate classes and workshops on technique are offered, the plan for this weekend calls for presenting all technical exercises necessary for ringing musically within the context of the rehearsals on the repertoire.

*   Handbell musicianship at its finest.  You have an opportunity to work under an excellent clinician who has shown through her own handbell choirs that musical excellence is within the reach of more of us that most might think possible.  Monica McGowen will demonstrate the techniques she has developed to accomplish an exceptionally high level of musicianship in her ringers.

l  Top pieces in handbell literature.  Monica has chosen repertoire that will challenge the ringers.  Registrants are expected to purchase all music and have it available for the first meeting.

l  Saturday evening in downtown Claremont.  In recent years, downtown Claremont (less than 6 blocks from the campus) has become an evening destination.  There are excellent restaurants there as well as within a short driving radius.

l  Informal concluding concert.  As another goal for the weekend, the ringers will present an informal concert open to all friends of handbell ringing on Sunday afternoon.

Please provide a reliable email address in the appropriate space(s) on the Registration Form.  In order to minimize the printing and mailing costs associated with this event, all remaining registration material such as maps and travel instructions, schedule, lists of what to bring, etc. will be sent electronically prior to June 1, 2007.  Of course, we will provide hard copies by mail for those who need them.
