Nancy Jessup, Clinician
About the Clinician
Nancy Jessup earned the A.A. degree in Music at Pasadena City College, B.A. in American Studies at California State College at Los Angeles, and M.A. in Education at Concordia University, Irvine. She has a California State Teaching Credential, Elementary K-9.
She teaches handbells at Concordia University, Irvine, where she is responsible for two of the four handbell choirs, including overseeing any student directors for those groups, teaching private handbell lessons, coaching the performing handbell ensemble, RESOUND!, and handbell coaching on all levels. Nancy co-teaches the Handbell Methods course and administrates an annual handbell festival. She also works with the Teacher Education program at Concordia, in the capacity of University Supervisor for student teachers at the elementary level.
Nancy has served as national Membership Chairman for the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR), and as Chairman of the Handbell Industry Council.
In February 1996, Nancy performed the American Premiere of John Tavener’s Quartet No. 2: The Last Sleep of the Virgin, with the Chilingirian String Quartet at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, California.
She has taught handbells and chimes with all ages and levels of expertise. She has conducted workshops across the United States, in Canada, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Her particular specialty is the area of solo ringing.
She has been Handbell Editor for National Music Publishers, and is both co-author of a book on solo and ensemble ringing, and co-producer of a video teaching tape on the same subject.
Nancy has been a classroom teacher on the elementary level for a total of 10 years. During that time she also directed a 4th-6th grade handbell choir.
Nancy has been married to her best friend, George, for 36 years. He works at Disneyland as a project manager in the facilities department. They have one son, Jon, 30, who was married in November to a wonderful Indonesian woman. They are both chefs.
Schedule
The day will begin with arrival and set up at 9:00am and the downbeat for the first rehearsal will be at 10:00am. At 4:30pm, an informal concert, which is open to the public, will conclude the day.

Although there are four pieces on the repertoire list, bell teams and individuals may pick and choose those pieces they wish to prepare and perform at the final concert. Less experienced groups may wish to drop the more challenging work(s) and more advanced groups might skip the easier piece.
Bring: Please bring handbells, table pads, chimes, music, folders, music risers/stands (optional), mallets, gloves, and pencils. Some groups will need to bring their own tables. Church tables will be assigned to those registering first.
Solo Piece Each group is encouraged to perform a solo piece during the closing concert.

Cost: The Registration Fee of includes lunch.
Before April 12, 2007 , the discounted cost for members of choirs holding and AGEHR membership is $20.00 per person. If either the institution or the director is a member of AGEHR, the entire choir may attend at the discounted rate. For NON-Member choirs the cost is $25.00 per person.
After April 12, 2007 , the cost per person will increase by $5.00 per person. Late registrations will be accepted on a space available basis.
